Influence of Humanistic Knowledge and Resilience on Communication skills in Nursing students

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of humanistic knowledge, resilience and communication skills in nursing students and identify influential factors on communication skills of nursing students.
Methods: The data was collected by questionnaires from a convenience sample of 270 nursing students. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression.
Results: Each mean score of the items in humanistic knowledge, resilience and communication skills was respectively 2.67, 3.71, 3.53. Communication skills were correlated positively with humanistic knowledge and resilience. Resilience had significant positive effects on communication skills. Explained variance for the communication skills was 42%.
Conclusion: The results from this study suggest that resilience should be considered as main influential factor when developing intervention strategies to increase the level of communication skills among nursing students.
